Symphonic Band
Under the direction of Paul Heuer, the Reedy Symphonic Band is an ensemble consisting of musicians in 9th-12th grade who perform quality wind literature. This ensemble is double-blocked second period in the spring semester. In the fall semester, all freshmen are in band 2nd period and all upperclassmen are in either the Wind Symphony or Wind Ensemble.
Participation in the Symphonic Band requires a substantial amount of dedication on the part of its members. Enrollment in private lessons is strongly encouraged. Performances will include UIL, one or more invitational festivals, and one or two concerts in the spring. In addition, extra rehearsals and clinics are occasionally scheduled along with sectionals in the spring semester. Students in Symphonic Band are required to participate in the Solo & Ensemble contest with an appropriate level solo and ensemble.
